Johannesburg - Steven Pienaar was named in the Bafana Bafana squad to face Kenya, but will not be fit to feature against the Harambee Stars.
The Tottenham midfielder was accidently kicked in the head by fellow South African Bongani Khumalo during a club training session earlier in the week.
He has been ruled out for at least ten days by Spurs, which means he will not be able to feature in next Wednesday's friendly due to concussion.
Bafana boss Pitso Mosimane is expected to name a replacement for his vice-captain. Teko Modise would have been the likely choice, but following his stand-off with his previous club Orlando Pirates, he will not be afforded a call-up.
Mosimane explained: "We don't condone players who don't attend training sessions, and we don't have room for players who abscond from their clubs in Bafana."
Meanwhile, the coach will be delighted with the news that South Africa's next competitive opponents, Egypt, no longer have a friendly lined up against the USA.
Bob Bradley's men called off the clash in Cairo due to fears over their safety as the violent political protests against Hosni Mubarak's reign intensified.
The Pharaohs are bottom of AFCON qualifying Group G, however, Mosimane is well aware that the continental giants can turn on the style and put their cloak on invincibility back on if they hit top form.
He will be hoping that happens after the qualifiers though as Bafana are currently top of Group G and are on track to land an automatic spot at the 2012 Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
