Pienaar back to captain Bafana

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has announced a 23-man squad to face Burkina Faso in an international friendly at Ellis Park next week.

Mosimane has recalled midfielders Steven Pienaar, Thulani Serero and Thanduyise Khuboni, as well as defender Bongani Khumalo, who all missed South Africa's last match against Egypt in June through injury.

Bafana Bafana squad:

Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune, Wayne Sandilands.

Defenders: Morgan Gould, Tebogo Langerman, Tsepo Masilela, Siboniso Gaxa, Bongani Khumalo, Anele Ngcongca, Siyabonga Sangweni, Happy Jele.

Midfielders: Kagisho Dikgacoi, Hlompho Kekana, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Steven Pienaar (captain), Tlou Segogela, Andile Jali, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Thanduyise Khuboni.

Strikers: Bernard Parker, Thulani Serero, Katlego Mphela, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Kermit Erasmus.
