Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns midfield workhorse Matthew Pattison is not bitter about being left out of the Bafana Bafana set-up.
Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane knew what he was doing and it was impossible for him to select him at the moment, Pattison said on Wednesday.
"I cannot complain. Bafana are playing so well at present the coach could not change the team, because of the old adage if it is not broken don’t fix it. It would be crazy to change a winning combination.
"I will have to wait my turn, but I have patience and winning this award could help me. But, at the end of the day it is up to me to keep working hard for Sundowns and helping them win as many games and cups as possible."
Pattison was named premiership player of the month for September on Wednesday and many believe he deserves to be given a chance by Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane
On current form, Pattison, who has played for Newcastle United and Norwich is the best holding midfielder in the country. The Johannesburg born player turns 24 on October 27.
Mosimane has publicly stated that he is impressed by Pattison.
He said the Nelson Mandela Challenge against the United States at Cape Town Stadium on November 17 would be the perfect opportunity to bring him and other players on the fringe of selection to the national side.
"I have to keep playing well and working hard for Sundowns and make sure I catch the eye," said Pattison.
"I would love to make my Bafana debut in against the US, but we will have to wait and see."
Pattison will be in Mosimane’s spotlight when he lines up against ambitious Orlando Pirates in what promises to be a no holds barred premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
"I am looking forward to playing Pirates," he said. "It will be a cracker of a game. We have collected 12 points from four matches and aim to keep that winning momentum going."
