PSL coaches back Shakes

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba has received the much needed support from both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs ahead of his third stint in charge of the national side.

The Times is reporting that the newly appointed Bafana Bafana boss will have the support of both Soweto giants as he prepares to restore the national's sides fortunes.

Orlando Pirates', who downed Chiefs in their Carling Cup clash on Saturday, boss Vlad Vermezovic said that Mashaba can count on support from his side should he need it.

"Our job is to help him to perform and to bring SA football to a place where it deserves to be," said VV.

Baxter, who is linked with SAFA's technical director role, confirmed his view that PSL clubs, the league itself, SAFA and all the coaches need to work together for soccer in this country to develop.

"We cannot continue this 'we have all got our own interests and look after our own things' attitude, not wanting to release players, games shifting backwards and forwards." said Baxter.

"We all want to help the national team. It will be about cooperation," the Chiefs coach added.

SAFA is expected to announce the successful candidate for the role of technical director shortly.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
