Nthethe: Bafana future bright

Johannesburg - Thabo Nthethe feels the depleted Bafana Bafana team's hard fought draw against Ghana is proof the national side's future looks bright.

The Bloemfontein Celtic skipper was handed the national team armband for last weekend's 1-1 draw against the Black Stars, who are tipped as one of the favourites for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Bafana have come under intense criticism following their failure to qualify for the biennial showpiece in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, but Nthethe is convinced there is still much to come from the country's youngsters.

"We did well and the experience is going to benefit all of us because we will improve because of it," he told Celtic's official website.

The 2012 AFCON finals kick off in Bata on Saturday 21 January, with co-hosts Equatorial Guinea contesting the curtain-raiser against Libya.
