No ranking change for Bafana

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana held on to 60th position in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

South Africa have not played a match since they reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last month, which lifted them 25 places to their current position in the ratings list.

However, they were overtaken by Cape Verde Islands, dropping one position to 11th in the rankings among African nations.

Bafana will have a chance to climb the table when they face Central African Republic in a World Cup qualifier in Cape Town next week.

World champions Spain retained top spot in the overall rankings list, while Ivory Coast remained the No 1 team in Africa.
