Nkosi tipped for Bafana return

Johannesburg - Assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi is thrilled with the form of Siyabonga Nkosi and believes the Golden Arrows playmaker is pushing for a Bafana Bafana return.

Nkosi, who struggled at SuperSport United last term, has played a key role in Arrows' strong start to the season, which currently sees them lying third on the standings.

Most recently, he starred in a 3-1 victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday, scoring his second goal of the campaign and providing two assists - prompting Ncikazi's praise.

"The boy is fast becoming an asset to the team and we as technical team (are) understandably happy and satisfied about his overall contribution to the team since the start of the season," Ncikazi told Sunshine Press.

"It is still early days but we were certainly spot on when we signed him at the start of the season.

"His presence in the team has had a positive impact on our players who look up to him for guidance. What I like about him is that despite playing for Kaizer Chiefs and in both Israel and Germany, he remains down-to-earth and is very respectful.

"There's no doubt Arrows will continue to be competitive when we have such quality players such as 'Bonga'. From what he has shown us so far, I strongly believe he can offer our national team a lot," concluded Ncikazi.

Nkosi, with 25 Bafana caps, first caught the eye with Bloemfontein Celtic, netting 12 goals in 52 games between 2003-06. He went on to feature for Kaizer Chiefs, Arminia Bielefeld (Germany), Maccabi Netanya (Israel) and Matsatsantsa, before surprisingly joining Abafana Bes'thende in the off-season.
