Nigeria – Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba is confident that Nigeria will come out guns blazing in their final AFCON qualifying tie.
Preview: Nigeria v South Africa
According to Soccer Laduma Nigeria, Mashaba reveals that the encounter has a strong scent of “pride” for both teams.
“Well, I know they'll come out spitting fire more so since they won their game against Congo, that'll be a morale booster for them but then the Eagles didn't do well in this group,” said Mashaba.
“Secondly it's about pride, we won't want to come here to lose to Nigeria, we want to break that hoodoo.”
And as far as the captain saga goes, Mashaba says that he will continue to have different captains in each game even though Dean Furman has kept his post following a successful debut as captain against Sudan.
“We don't believe in a permanent captain because we believe in creating leaders. If you give it to one person then the others might not have the responsibility to perform.
“We are interested in creating leaders, people who will carry the coaches responsibilities to the field when the game is on, help and guide his team mates and work as a link between the technical crew and the players,” added Mashaba.
Sport24 will have LIVE and interactive match commentary of the 2015 AFCON qualifier game between Nigeria and South Africa.
