Johannesburg - South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena is determined to see new coach Pitso Mosimane get off to a winning start against Ghana on Wednesday night.
Bafana are to host the Black Stars at Soccer City, in what will be Mosimane's first game in charge of the national team since replacing Carlos Alberto Parreira after the World Cup.
And naturally Mokoena wants Bafana to impress.
"Everybody in the team is determined to make South Africa proud," he said on the Sowetan website.
"It's a new era for Bafana Bafana. We have a new coach in Pitso Mosimane who has made it clear he accepted the job to take Bafana Bafana to greater heights.
"It's a good start for us to begin our preparations for AFCON qualifiers by playing against Ghana. They performed well during the World Cup. We are going for all out for a win."
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan believes Bafana are under heavy pressure to perform with Mosimane's recent appointment and the AFCON qualifiers approaching next month.
"We are aware that Bafana Bafana have a new coach, so the players are under tremendous pressure to perform to the best of their ability to be retained for the AFCON qualifiers," he said.
Nevertheless, the Rennes man is hoping for an open, entertaining contest.
"The aim of every person when you enter the field of play is to win but for us the most important thing is to make this match the most memorable one for the fans.
"South Africans treated us like kings during the World Cup. This is a perfect platform for us to say a big thank you to South Africa," he concluded.
