Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane insists that Teko Modise will not have an easy ride in the national team setup anymore.
The Orlando Pirates midfielder is seen as the 'Golden Boy' of South African football, but failed to feature for the national team against Ghana on Wednesday night.
Mosimane admits that Modise will have to work for his place in the team following his decision to award Steven Pienaar the vice-captain's armband.
The former SuperSport United coach said after the match: "Modise will have to fight for his place in the side like everyone else."
"I will be using Pienaar on the right side of midfield (where Modise operates) as I believe Pienaar is more effective in that role on the right.
"I made him vice captain and he grabbed the chance against Ghana. He led by example when I replaced team captain Aaron Mokoena with Siyabonga Sangweni at half-time.
"He seemed to revel in the new role on the right and getting the captain's armband and showed a lot of leadership qualities."
