Pretoria - Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Teko Modise has revealed his ambitions of donning the national team jersey again.
The “Navigator” spoke following his team’s 4-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout match played at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday.
“I’ve been telling everyone in the team that I want to go back and play for Bafana Bafana because there is so much that I can offer to the national team,” Modise told the GOAL.com website.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has 65 caps to his name in the Bafana colours.
Modise feels he still has a lot to offer the South African senior team despite many believing his time is up.
He also emphasised that experience is always significant in football.
“This thing about me being too old, check all around the world, every team has experienced players blending with youngsters, but I respect that I have to work hard and return to the days when I used to play with a smile on my face,” concluded Modise.
The former two-time Premier Soccer League footballer of the year is not part of coach Gordon Igesund’s men travelling to Morocco to face the Atlas Lions in an international friendly on Friday.
