Modise: Credit to Mashaba

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise believes Shakes Mashaba deserves plenty of credit for leading South Africa to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as Group A winners.

Wednesday's 2-2 draw against Nigeria may have come as somewhat of a disappointment for Bafana Bafana, given the fact they had taken a two-goal lead in Uyo, although the result maintained their undefeated run in qualifying to give the national team a big boost ahead of next year's finals.

And Modise, who has 66 international caps to his name, has lauded the achievement of both Bafana and Mashaba, telling his own official website: "Congratulations to Bafana for qualifying for the 2015 AFCON.

"They have done an amazing job and did not lose a single game in the [qualifiers]. The team has indeed made the country proud and they deserve to be in the tournament."

He continued: "Shakes Mashaba must be applauded for the good job he is doing. He has definitely created a team that can compete with any opposition.

"This will help the standard of our football to grow as all players will now want to play for the national team which means more competition. Congratulations again to the national team, the best is still to come."
