The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that May Mahlangu will no longer be considered for future Bafana Bafana matches following his withdrawal from Shakes Mashaba’s squad to face Sudan and Nigeria in the upcoming 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
May Mahlangu’s business manager, Rob Moore, has labelled SAFA’s ban as “very unfair” following the player’s withdrawal. (Read that story here).
SAFA's decision to ban May Mahlangu from future Bafana Bafana squads has sparked a national debate on the matter.
Sports and Recreation minister, Fikile Mbalula, expressed his thoughts on the matter via his Twitter account:
