Masilela 'OK' with Bafana axe

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs left-back Tsepo Masilela has given his backing to Bafana Bafana despite missing out on a place in the squad.

According to KickOff, Masilela has been in fine form for Amakhosi this season, but the 29-year-old is adamant that he backs the selected players.

“It looks like they want to have young players and rebuild the team for 2022,”said Masilela.

“I will support the team and as for me, I got my chance and I’m happy I played over 50 games for the national team.”

Sport24 reported last week that the defender does not feel hard done by Shakes Mashaba’s exclusion of him in the team and will remain available if Bafana ever needs him.

Bafana will take on Sudan in Khartoum on Friday, September 5 at 19:00 SA time, before hosting Nigeria on Wednesday, September 10 (20:00) at the Cape Town Stadium in their first two 2015 AFCON qualifiers.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
