Cape Town – Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba admits that he warned his players about the danger Ahmed Musa can cause.

Bafana Bafana needed a stoppage-time strike from Bongani Zungu to rescue a 1-1 draw against the Super Eagles, who had taken an 85th-minute lead through dangerman Musa during Sunday's friendly international in Nelspruit.

The result means Bafana continue to wait for their first official victory over the Nigerians, having only beaten them once in 11 meetings - a Nelson Mandela Challenge success in 2004 - although Mashaba was still pleased with the performance of his charges.

The coach went on to reveal how his side had purposefully put plenty of focus on Musa during the game, with Mashaba all too aware of the forward's threat.

"I said to the players before the game, 'there's this Musa - number 7 - don't give him an area where he faces goals, because he will punish us'," added the tactician.

"We had him in the first half and he was nowhere; we had him for some time in the second half.

"When he started playing, he always comes in from the flanks and he did it tonight, he's a very, very good curler of the ball.

"You could see when his foot hit the ball that it was going to cause problems for the goalkeeper."
