Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder Mpho Makola said playing at Orlando Pirates home ground made things much easier for him to produce a top notch performance, which earnedhim a man of the match accolade, against Senegal.
The inform Makola was on target on his debut as South Africa redeemed themselves with a 1-0 triumph over the Lions of Taranga in the Nelson Mandela challenge clash at the Orlando stadium on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old midfielder produced a stellar display on his debut but he has cited that the bottom line is that South Africans bounced back after their disappointing 3-1 loss to Mauritania, in the AFCON 2017 qualifier, on Saturday, September 5.
“Obviously I am very happy excited, I’m happy with the goal and with the way I performed," said Makola.
“But the bottom line is that we have managed to win tonight [Tuesday].
“So I think it’s because we played so well collectively.
“I’m very familiar with the pitch here [Orlando Stadium], that’s very obvious.
“It made my game much easier; playing here played a huge role in my game.
“We just wanted to redeem ourselves after a disappointing loss to Mauritania on the weekend.”
