Cape Town - Bafana Bafana star May Mahlangu has hinted that he is considering his future as his contract at IFK Goteborg comes to an end.
The eNCA website reports that Mahlangu's contract with the Swedish outfit expires at the end of the year and that his agent, Rob Moore, has met with the club as a result. The Bafana man has just returned from an Achilles injury which has kept him on the sidelines for the better part of the year.
His injury came at the most inopportune time as his stock was on the rise along with his increasingly influential role within the national setup.
As a result, Goteborg offered the 25-year-old a short term deal after his contract at Helsingborgs came to an end in March.
Moore is said to have been given a fortnight in which to indicate Mahlangu's intentions to Goteborg, with the player believed to want to extend his stay.
Furthermore, Goteborg's sporting director Mats Gren intimated that the club and Moore have reached an agreement of sorts and that it was just up to Mahlangu to make a final decision.
Mahlangu is a product of Stars of Africa Academy before making the switch to Swedish side Helsingborgs at the tender age of 19 and helped them secure the league in 2011 which he also won the Player of the Year award.
He had been previously linked with a move to England, but the move never materialised after Goteborg intimated their intention for Mahlangu to stay.
Despite a return to form in the club arena, he was left out of Shakes Mashaba's Bafana squad for their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Congo.
