Mahlangu: I'll do my best

Cape Town - May Mahlangu is overjoyed at his return to the Bafana Bafana setup after his ban was lifted following a call-up from coach Shakes Mashaba.

Mahlangu has been included in the national side for Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia, having spent the past eight months in the wilderness due to a discord with the South African Football Association.

During the AFCON 2015 qualifiers, Mahlangu failed to honour a Bafana call-up, stating fatigue as the reason he excluded himself from selection, although that decision enraged SAFA, who moved swiftly to banish Mahlangu from the team.

However, the playmaker is now back in the fray and eager to press on with his international career, telling KickOff: "It's a great feeling to be back as I have been absent for a long time and I'm delighted to be back and happy to be part of the mix.

"Regarding the past, let's not talk about that and let's look at the future of where to from now. As I said, I'm happy to be here.

“We have solved everything with the coach and the people at SAFA and I'm happy to be part of Bafana squad."
