Khune's charges withdrawn

Johannesburg - Charges of reckless and negligent driving against Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune were withdrawn in the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

"We confirm that the charges have been withdrawn," his lawyer William Maodi said.

"Mr Khune will (be) administered to a diversion programme which will include him doing hours directed to community service and road safety awareness campaigns," he said.

Khune would need to meet all the requirements or the charges against him could be re-instated.

The soccer player was caught driving at 173km/h in a 120km/h zone in a sponsored Nissan Juke in Centurion in January. He later apologised.
