Khune banks on experience

Durban - Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune believes his experience will prove vital when they take on Gambia over the weekend.

Bafana and Gambia will square-off in their first 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The outgoing Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper said he has proved his worth in the national team and club level and is willing to contribute positively when Bafana battle for a spot in the 31st edition of the continental showpiece in Libya.

“It means a lot to be part of the national team again,” said Khune.

“I think I have shown and proved before what I can do between the sticks.

“I have been given so many opportunities, both at club level and in the national team.

“So I think that my experience will count when we play in the qualifiers because experience is always key.”

Khune, 27, is most likely to be in goal for Bafana on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
