Khune: Best is yet to come

Johannesburg - Itumeleng Khune believes the best is yet to come from Bafana Bafana after they beat Ghana 1-0 at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper kept a clean sheet after returning from a one-match suspension, which saw him miss out on South Africa's final World Cup game against France.

Although the 23-year-old was rarely challenged, he was pleased with his performance.

"It was a good feeling to be back in the team and also to keep a clean sheet," Khune told the Chiefs official website.

"We played well last night and we were very organized at the back. It is important that we build from this performance."

South Africa now face a gruelling African Nations Cup qualifying campaign and they will have to overcome Niger, Sierra Leone and Egypt if they are to book their place amongst Africa's elite.

"The qualifiers are going to be tougher but we will be ready," he added

Khune praised head coach Pitso Mosimane for the role he has played since taking charge.

"It is good that there has been continuity in the coaching department and the Coach did not make many changes on how we play," he added.

"He encouraged us to continue with the way we have been doing under the previous coach.

"This has brought stability in the team."
