Josephs open to Bafana return

2012-07-05 10:06

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs remains coy over a return to Bafana Bafana, but admits he will make a decision "when the time is right".

The Buccaneers shot stopper announced his retirement from international football at the beginning of May, citing family issues and club commitments as his reason for hanging up his South African gloves.

Former Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane had declared the door would always be open for the keeper to return, and the appointment of Gordon Igesund as new head tactician has raised the possibility of Josephs taking up that option.

However, the 32-year-old would not go into any detail over those claims, telling The New Age: "I cannot really say anything about that. I am not ready to comment on it, but I will speak when the time is right."

Bafana Bafana well next be in action on September 7 when they take on world footballing giants Brazil in a friendly in Sao Paulo.

that biased monster is gone, its nw your turn 2 shine slimkat...bafana's number 1 jersey is all yours!

      bongani.gwexe - 2012-07-05 11:11

that will never happen. Khune is 10 times better than Slimkat. He can come back to be a third choice, we still have Darren Keet, Wayne and then him.

bafana will never win anythng as long as we hav ppl with yo kaise chips mentality..

      mbambo.shi - 2012-07-06 09:43

Khune is the reason why Chips is ever failing in its attempts to win the league and Bafana having failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nation. What position did they finished last season???. Josephs is far much better than that Khune.

If he ready and will to accept that a No 1 jersey can not be demanded but one must work hard until such time the No 1 is injured or is no longer good enough

Do we really need this guy in our national team? I don't think so, the only thong he's good at is flying unnecessarily and shouting at his defense unnecessarily.

  • Malungisa - 2012-07-05 12:20

Moneeb's presence has yielded trophies for Pirates but the ever present Khune has won the last friendly match. Hate him at your own risk
