Igesund, one of the leading candidates to succeed axed coach Pitso Mosimane in the Bafana post, arrived home from China with his club yesterday after they competed at the Shanghai tournament where they finished second.
"I don't want to talk about whether I will or will not (take the Bafana job) at this moment. We will have to look at the situation (first)," Igesund said.
Igesund expressed his sympathy for Mosimane, who was fired following Bafana's shock 1-1 draw with lowly ranked Ethiopia in a 2014 Soccer World Cup qualifier in Rustenburg on Sunday. He added that he was "honoured" to be linked with the Bafana post, but would not get "too excited".
SAFA are hoping to appoint a new coach in time for Bafana's October 12 friendly against Poland.
Steve Komphela was appointed caretaker coach on Monday and will be in charge of Bafana's World Cup qualifier against Botswana in Gaborone on Saturday and the June 15 friendly against Gabon.
Igesund said he expected SAFA to contact him and Swallows chairperson Leon Prins before the end of the week.
