Igesund: It was tough

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund feels that they did well against tough opposition after claiming a 2-1 win over Kenya in Nairobi on Tuesday, but admits that there are still areas that they need to work on.

"We played well against tough opposition, but there was also evidence of weakness in some areas. We will look at the mistakes and find ways of avoiding them in future," said Igesund.

The Bafana coach also says that the game has allowed him to get closer to making a final decision on the core of his squad ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

It was far from easy for the South Africans at the Nyayo National Stadium, as they came under a lot of pressure after Tokelo Rantie had given them the lead in the 19th minute.

The Harambee Stars came back into the game with 18 minutes to go after Bongani Khumalo had handled the ball in the area, which allowed Kenya captain Dennis Oliech to fire home from the spot.

The South Africans managed to scrape the win though after Bernard Parker took advantage at a throw-in before bouncing the ball off Kenya defender Christopher Wekesa's head for an own-goal three minutes later - which secured the win.
