Johannesburg - After earning his 50th cap in South Africa’s 3-0 win over Gabon, defender Siboniso Gaxa says he is honoured to have reached the milestone.
“If you have to represent you country 50 times, it’s a big achievement, so I’m very proud of that and very happy to have reached 50 caps for South Africa,” said Gaxa.
The Lierse player added that he was glad to have been part of the team’s victory and believes it will go a long way towards boosting the players’ confidence after they went eight matches without a victory.
“It was a good game for the boys. The fact that we didn’t win the last two games meant that we had to win today to bring back some confidence,” added the former Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United player.
“I’m glad for the new players and the guys who scored. It showed that they were hungry and I’m very proud with the way we performed.”
