Five changes to Bafana squad

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane made five changes to his 23-man squad on Tuesday to play their final 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.

The match, to be played in Nelspruit on October 8, will determine whether the hosts qualify for next year's continental tournament.

Midfielder Reneilwe Lethsholonyane of Kaizer Chiefs makes a return to the squad after recovering from injury, while Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela has also been included.

Mphela's domestic team-mates, Lebohang Mokoena and defender Punch Masinamela, have been recalled.

The only newcomer in the squad is Bradley Grobler from Turkish side Goztepe Izmir.

Steven Pienaar will be considered for late selection, but is doubtful due to injury, while Siphiwe Tshabalala will captain the side.

"This is a very tough match for us because qualifying is no longer in our hands, but what we can control is a win against Sierra Leone," Mosimane said.

"If we do what we have been doing in the last year, we should get maximum points even though, in this case, we still depend on others to come through for us.

"This is a win-at-all-costs encounter and we have to put our bodies on the line and I believe we have the team that will deliver."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
