Fans support Mosimane's axing

Johannesburg - Nearly two thirds of South Africa's soccer fans believe that Pitso Mosimane's axing as Bafana Bafana coach was a step in the right direction.

This is according to a statement released by Pondering Panda, a consumer insights company that surveyed 1 193 men nationwide over the age of 18.

Of those who knew of the axing, 63 percent supported it, 28 percent were against it and nine percent were undecided.

"This shows the extent of [the] passion and interest that South Africans have for soccer.

"It also indicates that the move was in line with the wishes of soccer fans across the country, who can now hopefully look forward to better fortunes for our Bafana," said Butch Rice of Pondering Panda.

The interviews were conducted via cellphone.
