Fans say Igesund must go

Cape Town - Sport24 posed the question to our fans on Facebook. Should Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund stay or should he go?

As reported earlier on Sport24.co.za, SAFA are expected to announce the decision on whether Igesund will be offered a new contract after his current deal expires on 31 July 2014. It appears that the decision has already been made and that Igesund will be relieved of his duties.

What will be concerning Igesund is that SAFA have only allocated one hour for the discussion regarding the future of the national team's coach.

We asked our Facebook followers for their opinion on Bafana Bafana coach and and they answered in unison. The majority of our followers thought that it is time to say goodbye for Gordon Igesund.

Here's what our fans had to say on our Sport24 Facebook page:

Moloko Moraka offered a simple farewell: “Goodbye G I” and Buti-Buti Gradwel Mathebula echoed Moloko’s thoughts: “He must go”.

Jeffrey Lwandile Bbm Mbangatha said that he must go due to not selecting the most deserving players.

Siya Mvlane Paliso seems to be hinting that SAFA have already made their minds up: “It makes no differnce.... Safa has made th decision”

Gerald Ramolai said that Igesund’s reign must come to an end: “He must go, he always makes excuses about the team he selects.”

Benedict Tebogo Moerane had a few stern words for SAFA:

“Its pointless cause SAFA dont understand the word, DEVELOPMENT. A new coach will still suffer cause there is no development in SA.  In my view keep him cause he is starting to build a new team already and a new coach will come waste time instilling his ideas to players and AFCoN 2015 is around the corner!”

SAFA are expected to announce their decision at 16:00 today.

Have your say in the comments section below on whether you think Gordon Igesund should be given the axe today or should be kept on to guide Bafana Bafana to the next AFCON.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
