When asked if he felt disappointed with the Stallions' performance the Portuguese boss launched into an attack on the South African authorities, saying they had made a hash of his side's chances in their international friendly at Coca-Coca Park.
Only 10 Burkinabe were actually in the country on the eve of the game and while a number of their European-based players failed to arrive at all, the side, who are ranked the fourth best in Africa, even had some players arrive on the morning of the match. As it turned out, Duarte had only 16 players unavailable, including two goalkeepers.
Duarte said through a translator: "I'm not disappointed with my players, I am disappointed with the South African organisation for this game.
"The South African organisation is to blame. Their planning meant that my team was cut in half.
"I had five players come from the airport at 7 o'clock on Wednesday morning."
Just as Pitso Mosimane was eager to use this match to gain some placing's on the FIFA rankings, so too was Duarte.
He added: "This match was important for our ranking, it was not our fault, it was the organisations' fault."
He did, however, end off with well wishes for the Bafana team ahead of their AFCON qualifier against Niger.
"Thank you and good luck to the team", he concluded.
Mosimane refused to accept that his side faced a weakened opposition and credited his team's easy victory to a great team performance.
The former assistant boss was especially pleased with the contribution of Thulani Serero and Daylon Claasen.
Mosimane said: "No, we played a good game, we beat Burkina Faso because we played well everywhere.
"There was no excuse. We showed the class, we were tactically and technically superior on the ball.
"Our passing was good, our movement was excellent, we pressed well, we kept possession well and we frustrated them.
"We had a lot of young players out there and I was impressed with Serero and Claasen."
Man of the match, Katlego Mphela admitted he was not as fit as he would like to be after not going through a full pre-season while Shabba was pleased to have scored his first goal for Bafana since his opener at the World Cup in 2010.
Shabba said: "Ja, so far so good, we managed to achieve our objective and get the result we needed to improve our ranking and hopefully it will be great preparation for Niger."
