Doctor Khumalo backs Bafana

Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Doctor Khumalo is optimistic that the national team will not be affected mentally, by their early elimination from the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament, when they face Brazil next week.

Bafana will take on the five-time world champions in a friendly at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday, March 5.

The Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach believes that Bafana players will go out to measure their game against the array of Brazilian super stars, as they seek to revive their spirits.

According to a report on the Sowetanlive website, “16v” said he wished to see head coach Gordon Igesund field three promising young stars for the mouth-watering encounter.

The 2010 Soccer World Cup hosts and 2014 hosts will be meeting for the fourth time, with the South American giants holding 3-0 win-loss record.

The two sides last clashed in Sao Paulo at the Estadio de Morumbi in Igesund’s very first game in charge of Bafana back in September 2012.

Brazil won 1-0 that day.

Kick-off next Wednesday is at 20:00.
