Cape Town - Amaglug-glug coach, Owen Da Gama says that Ajax Cape Town starlet Riyaad Norodien has already caught the eye of Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba.
Da Gama was disappointed not to have Norodien at his disposal for the national under-23 team’s trip to Zimbabwe last weekend as he believes that the young winger brings a different dimension to his team.
"I think he’s a fantastic player," Da Gama said about the 20-year-old.
"With him in the team he just brings another dimension as well, with his pace and his mobility and his energy: the boy has got energy second to none!
"He can play on either wing, as long as you keep possession, not aerial balls.
"Possession football, that is where he should be utilised because he can get away from defenders and get in behind players.
"We played against Bafana Bafana in a practice match prior to the Gambia game and he was absolutely fantastic against them.
"Coach Shakes Mashaba also commented on him and there is no doubt about his ability," Da Gama concluded.
Norodien is likely to feature for Ajax in the Cape Town Cup this weekend with their first game against Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon on Friday at 20:15 at the Cape Town Stadium.
