Carnell: Shakes picked available best

Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana defender, Bradley Carnell, believes Shakes Mashaba has selected his best possible team for the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“I feel this was the best available for the coach, and I think it’s the tried and tested, compared to the team that played in the COSAFA Cup recently,” Carnell told Sports24.

“I think the goalkeeping department is very strong with the three goalkeepers selected, and the other departments as well.”

Carnell said he feels it is time for the players to make the country proud because they have now played together for some time.

“This is more of the team that played in the African Nations Cup earlier this year, and playing together should not be a problem,” said the retired defender.

“The only problem with the team is that there is no new talented coming up from our youth teams.

“The coach himself has said it that we are struggling to produce new talent as a country,” he said.
