Cape Town - Former Ghana national team coach Mariano Barreto has made a late application for the Bafana Bafana job, according to a report on KickOff.
The Portuguese-born coach has submitted his CV to SAFA to replace the sacked Pitso Mosimane, even though they started interviewing the five short-listed candidates in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The 55-year-old Barreto coached Ghana between 2003 and 2004, and his currently in charge at Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadisiyah.
SAFA's technical committee said it was "happy" with the first four interviews for the vacant Bafana Bafana coaching position conducted on Thursday.
Gordon Igesund, Gavin Hunt, Shakes Mashaba and Neil Tovey all presented with current interim coach, Steve Komphela's date set for next Monday.
