Bafana worry over bumpy pitch

Johannesburg - The South African national team is concerned with the state of the pitch at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, ahead of Bafana Bafana’s international friendly against Kenya.

Kenya will host South Africa in the country’s capital on Tuesday, however South Africa is not impressed with the field at the 30 000 seater stadium. Coach Gordon Igesund and his squad are already in East Africa, following last week Friday’s 1-0 loss to Poland in Warsaw, and after having examined the the state of the ground, Bafana have expressed their concern.

Word coming out of the Bafana Bafana camp is that the pitch is bumpy and that it could very well have an influence on the coach and his technical team’s approach to the game. The uneven surface will prevent the team from playing carpet football and will undoubtedly slow the game down.

The international friendly will be Igesund’s fourth game in charge of the national team and after two losses and one win, the four time PSL league winning coach will be adamant on recording his second victory.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
