Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana will face Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions Zambia in this month's Nelson Mandela Challenge, the SA Football Association (SAFA) confirmed on Thursday.

The match would be played at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on November 14 - less than two months before the 2013 Afcon tournament kicks off in South Africa.

Bafana have won seven of the previous 17 editions in the annual one-off friendly international, which raises money for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund. They have lost seven times and drawn on the other three occasions.

"We are honoured to be playing a high-profile opposition like Zambia as this is in line with our vision of playing tough opponents as part of our preparations for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament," said SAFA CEO Robin Petersen.

"It is also a special occasion in that Zambia was the first nation to play in this event back in 1994, and are currently the title holders of AFCON."
