Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana star Siphiwe Tshabalala picked up the sports
personality of the year award at the 2010 Gauteng Sports Awards on
The Kaizer Chiefs winger, who has 57 national team caps, became a
household name when he opened South Africa's account at the World Cup
in 2010 with a piledriver against Mexico - although his performances for
Amakhosi in recent season had made him a legend amongst Chiefs fans
well before that historic occasion.
Tshabalala revealed his delight at scooping the award that was voted for by the public.
He said: "This is a great honour. A big thank you to all the people who voted for me."
