Bafana star faces 6 months out

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana’s Doncaster Rovers defender, Bongani Khumalo, has been dealt a heavy blow by the news that he could face six months on the sidelines with a ruptured patella.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, the 27-year-old was stretchered off during last night’s 5-0 defeat to Brazil and rushed to hospital for tests.

Khumalo's agent, Glyn Binkin confirmed that "Bongani will be having an operation early this afternoon, but he will likely be out for a lengthy period. Six months or so.

"Bongani is honestly the strongest player mentally that I've ever worked with. He has overcome many massive hurdles in his career to date, and sees this as yet another one to overcome. He is very upbeat and confident that he will bounce back even stronger."
