Cape Town - Bafana Bafana have risen one place in the latest FIFA world rankings while Spain have dropped out of the top ten.
Shakes Mashaba's side rose one place as the latest FIFA world rankings were released on Thursday, with Bafana Bafana now ranked as the 55th best side in the world.
However, South Africa have dropped one place on the continental rankings following Gabon's rise. Bafana Bafana are now ranked as the 15th best side in Africa, one place higher than Egypt.
2010 Soccer World Cup winners, Spain, have dropped outside of the world's top 10 teams with Italy rising two places to claim 10th position. There are no other changes in the world's top 10.
According to fifa.com, seven friendlies have been played since the last edition of the rankings were released, five of them in the North, Central America and Caribbean zone. The majority of changes are a direct result of a devaluation of past results.
The top 50 in the world ranking sees the UEFA region leading the way with 29 teams represented in the top 50, with Africa second with 11 teams, followed by CONMEBOL (6), CONCACAF (3) and the AFC (1). The OFC do not have one team inside the top 50.
