Bafana not yet fit - Mabokgwane

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane has revealed that his national team-mates are not yet at the stage which head coach, Shakes Mashaba, wants his players to be as far as fitness is concerned.

However, the Mpumalanga Black Aces shot-stopper believes their recent friendly win over Zambia on Sunday showed that they are progressing closer to full fitness.

“We are almost there as a team,” Mabokgwane told Sport24.

“The recent friendly game showed us exactly where we are as far as our fitness level is concerned.

“We are not quite happy with the fitness level we are at now because the coach expected us to be fully fit by now.

“But we should be okay before the upcoming friendly match.”

Bafana Bafana will continue their preparations for AFCON 2015 when they face Cameroon in a friendly on Sunday.

The national team are expected to depart for Gabon on Wednesday, January 7 where they will play Cameroon three days later (Sunday, January 10) in Libreville in preparation for AFCON 2015 which starts on January 17.
