Bafana held by Lesotho

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana and Lesotho played to a goalless draw in a friendly international at Setsoto Stadium in Maseru on Thursday afternoon reports the SAFA website.

In a match of few chances, Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba fielded a completely new side altogether in preparation for the forthcoming COSAFA Cup scheduled for the North West Province.

Only a handful of chances fell to both the home side and the visitors - the draw was a true reflection of this low-key friendly encounter.

However, midway through the opening half, Cole Alexander had the ball in the back of the net but the match officials ruled his effort offside.

In the first half, Mashaba handed caps to Sibusiso Mxoyana (Vasco da Gama), Clayton Daniels (Supersport United) and Phumelele Bhengu.

The second stanza saw Athenkosi Dlala (Supersport United Academy), Gift Motupa (Baroka FC) and Carl Lark (Santos) also don the Bafana Bafana jersey for the first time.

The next match will be played on Saturday (16 May) as Mashaba continues to search for the winning combination ahead of the COSAFA quarterfinal match with Botswana on Sunday, 24 May at the Moruleng Stadium.
