Bafana game delayed live

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana’s international friendly against Zimbabwe will not be broadcast live on SABC 1, and will only be shown an hour after the game starts.

The game will be played at the Rufaro Stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Tuesday night and although the game will get underway at 20:00, soccer fans in South Africa will only get to view the game at 21:00.

This is not the first time that South Africa’s national public broadcaster has failed to secure the home fans the opportunity to view the game live.

SABC’s spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago said that they attempted to broadcast the game live, however, due to technical reasons, the game will be delayed by an hour.

“We had problems with the equipment in Zimbabwe. We were setting-up our equipment but it did not correspond with our co-broadcasters in Zimbabwe.  We tried to make it work, but it didn't.

“Instead of attempting to broadcast the game live with the possibility of it being problematic, we decided to record the first-half and then play it off our system,” expressed Kganyago.
