Bafana ranking on the rise

2012-05-09 12:15

Johannesburg - South Africa climbed four places to 67th in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Wednesday.

Bafana Bafana, who have not played a match since they settled for a goalless draw against Senegal in Durban in February, moved back up the ratings list after tumbling to 71st place in April - the country's worst ranking since June 2010.

The South Africans also climbed one position, above Guinea, to 14th among African nations.

Without a win in their last six internationals, Bafana face Ethiopia in their next fixture, a World Cup qualifier, in Rustenburg on June 3.

Ivory Coast remained top of the African table, in 15th place overall, and world champions Spain retained top spot in the global list.

They can only rise up the rankings when they learn that soccer is a team sport and not for individual wannabe show off's who cant even play the game..!!!

  • kasper.mbayi2 - 2012-05-09 13:08

We wish Bafana to gain better rank in Fifa. But the officials don't wish so. Bafana problem is 1 they play with unexpirienced players. Because in SA if player reach 30 years our officials want that player to retire they say is too old while the player is still fit to play for his country.

  • Danny - 2012-05-09 13:27

Seems all they have to do is not play any games and their ranking rises - good one - hahahahahaha.

  • Raeez - 2012-05-09 14:29

Shows you just how useless they are. They need to NOT play for them to rise. As soon as they play soccer they fall in the rankings. sies! lol

  • Duzi - 2012-05-09 15:23
