Ajax defender out of Congo trip

Cape Town - Ayabulela Magqwaka has withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad that will face Congo in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Magqwaka, who has yet to make a professional appearance for Ajax Cape Town, is nursing a calf injury sustained during his club's friendly against Santos last week.

The national-team doctors have decided to give him prolonged rest to recover, but head coach Shakes Mashaba has confirmed that he will not call up a replacement.

"We have enough cover in that position (centre-back) so there's no need to call up another player," Mashaba told the SAFA website.

"But also since we are travelling, arranging of visas at short notice was going to be a challenge."

The South African tactician added that he expects a touch challenge when they lock horns with the Group A leaders in the first leg encounter in Pointe Noire on Saturday.

"We are looking forward to a tough match but we start our preparations this week in good spirits," said Mashaba.
