Ace: Mosimane needs help

Johannesburg - Former Bafana Bafana player Donald "Ace" Khuse believes national team coach Pitso Mosimane needs to work together with the PSL coaches.

South Africa were ranked 38th in the world earlier in the year, but have slipped down the FIFA rankings to 53rd after a run of four games without a victory.

Under Mosimane, Bafana have also failed to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations to be held in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

Chiefs assistant coach Khuse is convinced SA will make more progress if Mosimane works with the PSL club coaches as he prepares for his side's 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

When asked if they would qualify for the World Cup in Brazil, Khuse told Amakhosi magazine: "It is going to be very tough. Pitso (Mosimane) has without a doubt what it takes as a coach to take us to greater heights but he needs support from SAFA, from everyone.

"Pitso needs to have a dialogue with the coaches in the league. He cannot succeed by himself."

He added: "The players need to take responsibility. They should realise that it is them who can remedy the situation not the coaches.

"It must start with them and if the mentality of the players is right then we will go back where we were - no. 1 in Africa."
