Bafana star back from injury

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana defender Bongani Khumalo has recovered from an ankle knock and is back in contention for a place in the Reading side for Tuesday’s visit of Peterborough United.

Khumalo has endured a torrid time on loan at the English Championship club from Tottenham Hotspur, after losing his place in the starting XI and then suffering a succession of niggling injuries.

His latest ankle problems kept him out of Bafana’s recent internationals at home to Cote d’Ivoire and away to Zimbabwe, but he will be hoping he is finally injury-free and can work on winning his place back in the reading line-up.

His chances will arguably be boosted by the run of inconsistent form from the side, who have won just two of their last seven matches.

Khumalo played the first five games of the season after joining The Royals on a season-long loan in August, but has not featured since a Carling Cup defeat at Charlton Athletic on August 23.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
