Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates' two-goal MTN8 quarter-final hero, Lennox Bacela, believes that his brace against SuperSport United on Sunday is a major boost to his career at his new club.
The Buccaneers eliminated the Pretoria outfit from the MTN8 competition on penalties in the quarter-finals at the Mbombela stadium in Mpumalanga.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic forward came off the bench to replace the injured Collins Mbesuma in the first half, and helped his team secure a 2-all draw after extra-time.
Pirates went on to win 4-3 on penalties.
Bacela, 27, told the Orlando Pirates website that the pressure has been lifted off his shoulders by grabbing a brace at a crucial game for the Ghosts.
“The pressure is slightly off - I would be lying if I said I felt no pressure to have a great game," Bacela said.
“I scored twice and that is of course a major boost to my confidence. Credit must go to my team-mates who helped me throughout, with some great services once again. I think it is a perfect way to get back and score two goals. It was just a matter of time; I knew the goals would come,” Bacela added.
After winning the hearts of the Bucs Faithfull’s, they will be expecting more goals from the Eastern Cape-born striker.
Pirates’ next instalment of the MTN8 will be a two-legged semi-final encounter against their perennial rivals Kaizer Chiefs, with the first leg scheduled for August 21.
