Johannesburg - The worst kept secret in local football is no longer a secret as Manqoba Mngqithi has been unveiled as AmaZulu's new boss...
The coach, who is rated as one of the best South African managers in the Premier Soccer League, left Golden Arrows on Thursday morning following months of rumours linking him with a move to Usuthu.
The club unveieled Mngqithi amidst much fanfare and he is delighted to make the switch.
"I'm very excited to join a team with such great history in South African soccer and with a fantastic supporter base," he said.
"I'm happy to be joining another club in KZN - I wouldn't have liked to leave the province where I know the culture of the players, so I'm very happy with this move.
"I believe that the style of football I bring to the club will have a lot to offer to the supporters, and at the same time the players will always be upbeat to play in front of an average home crowd of around 8000 people, or more," added Mngqithi.
The coach believes the right balance of youth and experience will be key to a successful team:
"It is my philosophy and my belief that the best players come from the youth and I'm very excited because AmaZulu also have a Vodacom side which will be a very good feeder team for the first team squad.
"I'm hopeful that I will be able to bring in new young players into the team because my style of play requires a lot of energy and speed.
"At the same time though its also very encouraging to know that AmaZulu have good experience within their ranks at the moment who will bring in a very good balance to the team," he concluded.
