Zulu disappointed by AFCON snub

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs’ newly recruited striker David Zulu says he was disappointed after being left out of Bafana Bafana’s 23-man squad which recently took part in the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea.

The 28-year-old prolific goal scorer was part of Shakes Mashaba’s 30-man preliminary squad before the final squad was announced ahead of the 30th edition of the continental showpiece.

Zulu told Sport24 in an exclusive interview on Thursday that despite missing out on the opportunity to represent his country at the biggest stage, he understood why he was left out.

“Of course I was very disappointed by not being included in the squad,” said Zulu.

“But despite that, I understood as a player because we have plenty of good players in the country.

“I was also not 100% match fit at the time because I was just coming from an injury.

“And I think it was very wise for the other guys to get their chance to represent the country.

“I believe that I will get my chance going forward.”
