Tiote back training

Bata - Injured Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote has resumed training with the rest of the Ivory Coast squad at the Africa Cup of Nations, coach Herve Renard said.

Tiote suffered an ankle injury in a Group D clash against Mali and has so far missed the final group match against Cameroon as well as the quarter-final against Algeria.

"Tiote has started light training and he is in the squad (for Wednesday's semi-final against DR Congo)," disclosed Renard at a press briefing on Tuesday.

"It will be difficult for him to start the game, but he is in the squad."

Champions in 1992, the Elephants are now just a match away from a second Cup of Nations final in three years after they lost the championship game to Zambia in 2012.
