According to Soccer Laduma, Mbalula is confident that Equatorial Guinea will surprise the naysayers and host a successful tournament.

“We as government are confident that Equatorial Guinea will host a successful 2015 AFCON tournament,” said Mbalula.

“Other countries should be given the opportunity and platform to host such events.”

South Africa opted not to host the prestigious event after Morocco pulled out for the same reasons, which was the plight of concern surrounding the Ebola virus. South Africa along with Nigeria and Ghana were offered to host the event but neither of the nations were interested because of the deadly virus roaming the continents air.

“We have no regrets whatsoever. The concerns that were raised are genuine,” says Mbalula.

“I’m now looking forward to go to Equatorial Guinea and enjoy the wonderful pleasures that country has to offer and to support our boys as they fight for African glory.”
